The Associated Press has declared incumbent Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi the winner of Illinois' 8th Congressional District, beating Republican challenger Chris Dargis. Krishnamoorthi, of Schaumburg, is a former deputy state treasurer who first ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2012 but lost to Tammy Duckworth in the Democratic primary. When Duckworth successfully ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate in 2016, Krishnamoorthi succeeded her in the 8th Congressional District. Born in New Delhi, he immigrated to the U.
