Sophomore midfielder Max Galvan came into Monday's game on a mission for Streamwood. Junior forward AJ Sabanovic and his team-leading 16 goals were on the bench due to a red card in the previous game. That meant Galvan needed to execute a different approach. 'We had to rely on the midfield and the wingers to work with us more, not with the strikers,' Galvan said. 'The strikers were more of a decoy. We had to step up for AJ.' Galvan indeed stepped up with 11:12 left in the first half, converting a pass from Bryan Huerta for the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Upstate Eight Conference leader Elgin.
